STAND UP PADDLEBOARDS!!!!!

by Mike Sutherland on May 2, 2013

We are so fired up about the stand up paddleboard phenomenon!  We just purchased a brand new fleet of Riviera’s from LA to add to our existing Maunalua and NSP’s and offer rentals by the hour, day, week and summer.  Of course we are located right on the beach.  We also will deliver boards to you free.  (Within 10 miles)  Also, we are adding 2 more classes daily for SUP Yoga with two more teachers coming on.  Chelsi, myself and Anna Mallien from Frankfort specializing in a yoga/Pilates fusion.  Indeed, we have the prime location at Clinch Park and if West Bay is too rough, we will run classes on Boardman or Cedar Lakes.  Chelsi will also be doing beach yoga daily on the new terraces either in the sand or the lawns or both!  Then a swim after?  OMG are we ready for summer 2013!  Lets get outdoors and make some memories….

Its going to be gorgeous!

by Mike Sutherland on April 16, 2013

Construction has gone well at Clinch Park this winter.  Couple hiccups with weather and frost levels, but all in all,  its all good!  I just ordered 25 new stand up paddleboards from Hawaii, 35 new bikes from California and 30 kayaks from Tennessee!  We have reworked our food menu to suit the beach/cafe scene and hired a local celebrity chef to oversee the restaurant.  The Boardman River is ready, West Bay is screaming for us to get out there.  The TART Trails are clear of snow and ready for biking. So lets get outdoors and make some memories!

Summer 2013!!!

March 29, 2013
Summer 2013!!!

It was a long winter in Northern Michigan. Traverse City locals (as usual) handled it with gritty optimism, but it was tough on me, looking out at that frigid West Bay everyday, tormented by the memories of the last several summers.  This picture of Chelsi on West Bay was shot by Noah at Social Explorations [...]

Tough looking back……

I paddleboarded with Chelsi this morning on West Bay…..the water was as calm as a mill pond.  I took a couple photos but grabbed this one instead from a shoot we did this summer with Noah Creamer from Social Explorations……I couldn’t resist posting it.  (Gorgeous Morning!) In any case, the waters are usable from Sabin [...]

Get in the current, float the Boardman and watch fall’s show

Surrounded by Salmon and Nature at the weir in Traverse City, MI

As temperatures slip into the 50′s, 60′s and some days that are a bit hotter and colder, we have a chance to watch one of natures most beautiful times.  Autumn days can be warm, cold, windy or calm, but most without exception are gorgeous in their own way.  As we struggle to deal with the [...]

SUP Yoga at Clinch Park

SUP Yoga at Clinch Park

The hype surrounding Stand Up Paddleboards is legit:  It’s a real sport folks and if you have not tried it yet, you are missing the proverbial boat.  Imagine a sunrise on Lake Michigan, not a breath of wind, the water like an oil slick, loons wailing overhead, brown trout surfacing for a mayfly and you……floating [...]

Boardman River Clean up

Boardman River Clean up

Great turnout for the boardman river clean up today, in spite of the bad weather.  About twenty of us floated the lowest two miles from Union Dam out to Clinch Park Beach and collected around 10 garbage bags full or so. The River was running too high everywhere else so the plan is to [...]

Dressing properly

Dressing properly

We had a nice little blast of winter yesterday, keeping the snow plows hustling.  Cold morning walk along the Boardman reminded me of something my Dad used to say to us kids growing up:  “There’s no such thing as bad weather!  Just bad clothing choices”  He’s right you know.  Don’t be afraid of the cold.  [...]
